Intellectual Property & Usage Policy

Welcome to saleem.uk. All content hosted on this digital platform - including, but not limited to, professional photography, bespoke poetry, creative prose, digital assets, and brand design - constitutes the intellectual property and creative work of Omar Saleem (trading as Omar Saleem Photography and Omar Saleem Ltd), unless explicitly stated otherwise.

By accessing this website or commissioning any services, you acknowledge and agree to the terms outlined in this policy.

1. Ownership of Copyright & Moral Rights

In accordance with the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, all copyright in images, written works, and creative content produced by Omar Saleem remains the exclusive property of the creator.

Commissioning a service - whether photography, poetry, or any bespoke creative work - does not transfer copyright ownership to the client. Under UK law, the creator (the “Author”) is the first owner of copyright. While clients may own physical prints or digital copies, the underlying intellectual property rights remain with Omar Saleem unless a formal, written Copyright Transfer Agreement has been executed and signed by both parties.

All moral rights, including the right to be identified as the author and the right to object to derogatory treatment of the work, are asserted and retained in full.

2. Personal Use Licence

For private clients - including those commissioning portrait sessions, family photography, or bespoke poetry - a non-exclusive, non-transferable Personal Use Licence is granted. This licence allows you to enjoy and share your commissioned work within a personal, non-commercial context.

Permitted Uses

  • Sharing images or poetry on personal social media platforms
  • Printing photographs for personal display (e.g., albums, frames, canvases)
  • Using commissioned poetry for private occasions such as weddings, ceremonies, speeches, or gifts

Prohibited Uses

  • Selling, sublicensing, or distributing the work to third parties or stock platforms
  • Entering the work into competitions, exhibitions, or publications without prior written consent
  • Using the work for any commercial, promotional, or business-related purpose

Any use beyond personal scope requires prior written permission and may be subject to additional licensing fees.

3. Commercial & Editorial Licensing

For any commercial, editorial, or business-related use of photography or written content, a separate Commercial Licence must be obtained in advance.

Licensing is based on:

  • Duration: Length of time the work is used
  • Territory: Geographic reach of usage
  • Media: Format (digital, print, advertising, etc.)

Editorial enquiries from publications are welcome. Bespoke commercial commissions are quoted individually to ensure appropriate rights are granted.

4. Credit, Attribution & Integrity

  • Personal Use: Credit is appreciated but not required
  • Commercial/Editorial: Attribution (e.g. “Photography by Omar Saleem”) is mandatory

All works are delivered as complete artistic expressions. Heavy edits, filters, AI alterations, or rewriting of bespoke poetry that compromises artistic integrity are not permitted.

5. Prohibited Uses & Digital Restrictions

  • Copying or redistributing content without permission
  • Hotlinking images from this website
  • Removing watermarks or metadata
  • Using any content for AI training or machine learning systems without consent

Note to Clients

This policy is designed to provide clarity while protecting the value of the work we create together. It is not intended to restrict your experience, but to safeguard the longevity and integrity of the art.
