Not the Usual Models I Work With!
I’m stepping out of my usual routine this week for a very special client. If you follow my work, you know I usually spend my time focused on lifestyle photography and portraits, but every now and then, a project comes along that’s too fun to pass up.
I just wrapped up this commissioned pet portrait, and I have to be honest: I love the results I got with the print.
The Power of the Print
While the digital version looked great on my monitor, I really wanted to go the extra mile for this piece. I decided to have it produced as a professional C-Type photographic print, and it reminded me why I love physical media so much.
In a world where we view everything on backlit glass, we often forget that digital screens just can't replicate the colours and feel of a genuine print. There is a deep, rich tonal range in a C-Type that gives the image a sense of weight and permanence. The way the light hits the paper and the depth of the shadows is on another level.
Seeing the final result matted and ready to go was incredibly satisfying. I’m so happy with how this one turned out, and I can’t wait for it to find its spot on the client's wall. After discussing options with the client, we've decided to complete it by mounting it inside a frame with a wide border around the image. That extra breathing room really lets the print speak for itself and gives it that gallery-standard finish.
